The Finest China

We are like chameleons, we take our hue and the color of our moral character, from those who are around us.

– John Locke

Painted with ornate elegance

vibrant shapes dance

beyond the golden skeleton

with contagious disposition.

Chips and nicks reveal its history

of family and festivity,

disputes and delight

fixed and lost tradition.

With lost sections and jagged edges,

it appears time to prepare for preservation.

While time has weathered and wearied,

it is stronger in spirit and tale.

Many have entrusted

large loads upon its base,

forgetting its ceramic

structure was not constructed

for immortality.

Assured eternal life,

its legacy remains

in the hands of those who have held

it in theirs, the vibrant colors

forever stains their skin.
